Matthew L. Wittenrich is a marine biologist and author of the recently published
The Complete Illustrated Breeder's Guide to Marine Aquarium Fishes. He has been deeply involved
with the aquarium industry since the age of 15 working as a researcher, consultant, aquaculture technician, and hobbyist.
He is currently pursuing his doctorate at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, with research interests
centered on the development of feeding abilities in early stage larvae of coral reef fishes. A native of western New York, he
began breeding saltwater fish in his parent's basement, successfully raising more than 56 species of marine fish and shrimp.
His most recent accomplishment was raising Green Mandarins, Synchiropus splendidus, and will be the focus of this month's talk.
